Meet the Teacher

Welcome! I’m Laura Weston.

(Surprise! That’s not actually me above; it’s St. Jerome! 🙂 Just a placeholder.)

I’m a classical humanities educator, a wife, a mom, and a long-time homeschool teacher. Whether parsing Latin, exploring and bringing history to life, relishing and discussing good literature, marveling at God’s beautiful creation through scientific disciplines, or crafting a lovely sentence, I am grateful to be doing what I love!

I got my bachelor’s in English from Auburn University, a Master’s degree in education from Trevecca, and began my teaching career as a high school teacher certified in English and history. When my oldest was born, I left public schooling behind. We began homeschooling when she was four. We were unsure of whether it would work but decided to take the plunge and here we are. As I write this, we are heading into our eighth year!

Classical education has been a gift to me and my family, providing beautiful depth to not only our knowledge but to our faith as well. I care deeply about it and I am always looking for ways to share that with others. In the past that has taken many different forms: teaching a wide array of subjects at co-ops and tutorials; working with other homeschooling parents to evaluate, plan, and organize curricula or methodologies; tutoring students who need extra support; and more.

My passion and vocation lies in helping students uncover the beauty of learning in all kinds of subjects and settings and the riches that come from a mind and heart oriented to wisdom and drawn to God. I also love helping families navigate their own educational journeys with confidence and joy.
